The Eighth Annual Amateur Fine Arts Show & Contest 

Calling all artists!  We are happy to announce the dates for our 2019 8th annual Fine Arts Show & Contest. Please review the full rules and eligibility qualifications.  For any questions on the entry instructions, please contact The Plaza at 706-923-1655 or Janet Kelhoffer at 404-895-7103.  Show open to the public April 1 – 12, 2019

The following categories are acceptable for judging:

• Abstract/Contemporary – Impressionistic expression
• Animal/Wildlife – An animal is the main focal point of the painting
• Florals – Flowers are the main focal point, a botanical, or a specimen bloom of a plant or tree. 
• General Art – If your artwork does not qualify in another category.
• Landscapes – Contour of land and/or land properties are the focal point. 
• Pen/Ink/charcoal drawings
• Portraits – A face should be the focal point. At least a ¾ profile or better. 
• Still Life – Denoted by items which can be physically arranged, or are inanimate (no longer living/growing). 
• Waterscapes – Water or water-related subject is the main focal point.

Important Dates: 

February 18 – 22: Application and photo of artwork due.  Drop off at The Plaza between 9:00 – 5:00 pm.

February 28: Email notifications sent on or before this date. Be sure to include your valid email address.  

March 18 – 22: Accepted Artwork to be dropped off at The Plaza during normal business hours. 

Friday, March 29th:  Pre-show viewing and Reception.  Artists and family are invited.  

April 1 – 12: The exhibit opens to the Public.  Open during TPAC office hours and special events. 

April 16-17: Artwork to be picked up during normal Plaza office hours (9:00 – 5:00 pm)

CAMP BROADWAY
DATES: Monday – Friday, June 3-7, 2019
TIME: 1:00 pm – 5:15 pm COST: $100 per student
Registration deadline – May 30, 2019

DETAILS: This year we invite boys and girls ages 6-14 to attend an exciting week exploring the Broadway Show “CATS”. Students will receive instruction in singing, dance, costumes and makeup from Miss Pegz Fazio and Miss RaeVyn Holsey as her assistant. Children enrolled in Putnam County’s Summer Inspiration Camp that also registered for Camp Broadway will be transported by bus directly to The Plaza Community Center after lunch. A showcase performance for family and friends will be held on the Plaza stage from 4:30 – 5:15 pm on Friday, June 7 to demonstrate the skills learned. 

Children must be registered to attend. No prior skills are necessary. Children should wear comfortable clothing that may get dirty and bring a snack each day. Scholarships may be available, contact The Plaza. Classes take place at The Plaza Community Center at 100 Ulysses Rice Ct., which is directly behind The Plaza Arts Center. ART CAMP
DATES: Monday – Friday, July 15 – 19, 2019
TIME: 9:00 am – 12:30 pm COST: $100 per student
Registration deadline – June 30, 2019

DETAILS: The Plaza Arts Center invites your children ages 6-14 to enjoy a fun-filled week of activities during our 9th year of Art Camp! Projects include painting, drawing, pottery, weaving, and other crafts. Children will present their artwork during a “show and tell” the last hour of camp week on Friday, July 19.  Register early! Deadline is June 30 and space is limited!

Children must be registered to attend. No prior skills are necessary. Children should wear comfortable clothing that may get dirty and bring a snack each day.
